Agartala, 6th November 2023 :    In a daring nighttime heist, a group of audacious thieves targeted the revered Srinagar Kali Temple adjacent to the Badharghat Stadium, leaving the sanctum desecrated and the faithful in shock. The criminals made off with an estimated one and a half lakh rupees worth of gold ornaments dedicated to the deity.

The brazen break-in was discovered by a temple priest who arrived early in the morning to find the temple’s door forcibly breached. Swiftly alerting the authorities, the priest lamented the recurring nature of such incidents, asserting that a previous theft had been reported to the police to no avail.

This recent act of sacrilege raises questions about the security measures in place around the temple, a place of deep religious significance for the community. The stolen gold ornaments, devoted to the mother deity, hold immense sentimental value for the temple’s devotees, making the loss even more poignant.

Tripura Police have been mobilized to investigate the incident and apprehend the perpetrators. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward, as the community rallies to restore a sense of security and sanctity to the revered Kali Temple.
