BY TC News Desk

Agartala, 11th September 2025 :  The Tripura Human Rights Commission (THRC) has taken cognizance of a complaint filed by Anita Bin, who alleged that the Revenue Department and the office of the District Magistrate and Collector, West Tripura, illegally mutated her land in favour of private individuals, thereby threatening her family’s right to property.

In her complaint, Bin stated that she and her family have been peacefully possessing the land since the time of their predecessors, but the authorities allegedly mutated the records in favour of Banti Deb, Dipali Gupta, Ajoy Gupta, Bijush Gupta and Subrata Gupta. She further alleged that these individuals have been attempting to dispossess her family, while local officials, including the Tehsildar, failed to submit an enquiry report despite her pending Revenue Case (No. 05/2025).

The complainant also claimed that although she had lodged an FIR with the Superintendent of Police, West Tripura, and the Officer-in-Charge of Barjala Police Station, no action had been taken. She further alleged that the accused persons had been threatening her with dire consequences.

Observing that Anita Bin belongs to a backward community, the Commission noted that the matter prima facie involves violation of human rights, including the deprivation of her constitutional right to property under Article 300-A of the Constitution.

Taking cognizance of the complaint, THRC Chairperson Justice Arindam Lodh issued notices to the Superintendent of Police, West Tripura, the Officer-in-Charge of Barjala Police Station, the DCM of Barjala Revenue Circle, Sadar, and the Tehsildar of Lankamura T.K., asking them to explain why the complainant should not be granted redressal. The Commission directed the concerned parties to submit their reports within three weeks and listed the matter for hearing on October 15, 2025.
