Agartala, 3rd December 2025: Police have arrested three individuals accused in the murder of a youth named Jiban Das from Tholibari ADC Village. The arrests, though delayed, were made after weeks of investigation.
According to police, one of the accused hails from Microsha Para, while the other two are residents of Tholibari ADC Village. After being produced in court, two of them were remanded to police custody for three days. The accused have been identified as Jayanta Tripura (17), Kantamani Tripura, and Gaya Tripura.
Jatrapur Police Station OC Smriti Kanta Bardhan today said the incident dates back to October 21, during the Diwali celebrations. Jibondas had gone to Microsha Para under Jagatrampur to witness the Kali Puja at night. The following morning, around 8 a.m., locals discovered his body tied to a rubber tree.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Kathalia Social Health Centre for post-mortem examination. However, the report took considerable time to arrive, delaying the investigation. Once the report was received, police intensified their probe, leading to the arrest of the three suspects.
Authorities have stated that the motive behind the killing and the possible involvement of others will be revealed as the investigation progresses.
