Three Bangladeshi held in City

Agartala, 28th July 2026 :   Three Bangladeshi nationals were detained from the premises of Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport in Agartala based on a tip-off, police said on Tuesday.

The Airport Police Station took the three individuals into custody with the assistance of airport authorities. Among those detained are two women and one man.

According to the Officer-in-Charge of Airport Police Station, they had prior information that three Bangladeshi nationals might arrive at MBB Airport. Acting on the intelligence, police personnel reached the airport and detained them.

During preliminary questioning, the detained persons claimed that they are residents of Chattogram and Faridpur districts of Bangladesh. They reportedly entered Tripura with the intention of travelling to West Bengal.

Police are currently conducting further interrogation to ascertain more details regarding their travel route, documents and purpose of visit. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
