Agartala, 30th May 2024: Tripura Police on Thursday arrested three Bangladeshi nationals from the Chandrapur Interstate Bus Terminus in Agartala while they were en route to Punjab in search of work.
Speaking with reporters, East Agartala Police Station officer Sanjit Sen said that they had received information that some people were roaming suspiciously at the Chandrapur Interstate Bus Terminus.
“We immediately rushed to the spot and detained three persons. During preliminary interrogation, they admitted that they are Bangladeshi nationals. We brought them to the police station and, upon searching them, we recovered some Indian and Bangladeshi currency and a mobile phone. They had entered India illegally. They came from Comilla, Bangladesh, and entered Tripura through the Sonamura Sub-division of Tripura’s Sepahijala district,” he said.
The officer further informed that the Bangladeshi nationals initially went to Agartala Railway Station but, finding no trains available, they came to the Chandrapur ISBT. “They were en route to Punjab in search of work. We will produce them before the court seeking police remand. They were identified as Md Noor Mohammad, Md Abdulla, and Astamul Hasna,” he added.
