Agartala, 13th December 2025:   Tripura Police have scored a significant success in their intensified anti-drug campaign by arresting three individuals and seizing narcotics valued at nearly Rs 22 lakh in two separate operations across the state.

In the first operation, personnel from Mungiakami Police Station under the Teliamura sub-division in Khowai district intercepted a vehicle during a routine checking drive at the 41 Mile area. The car, which was traveling from the Sidhai–Mohanpur area of West Tripura, was stopped on suspicion. A thorough search led to the recovery of approximately 52 kg of cannabis concealed inside the vehicle. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth around ₹10 lakh in the illicit market.

Two persons, including the driver, were taken into custody. Police also seized the vehicle and registered a case under relevant legal provisions. Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend others linked to the trafficking network.

In a separate incident, Dharmanagar Police Station in North Tripura, with support from the Intelligence Department, conducted a targeted anti-narcotics operation following a tip-off. The operation took place near Dharmanagar Railway Station Road, where a woman identified as Shukla Debnath (37) was detained. She hails from Kamalasagar in Sepahijala district and was presently staying in Chandrapur, Agartala.

Police officials said the woman was behaving suspiciously in the Rajbari area of Dharmanagar when she was intercepted on Tuesday morning. Upon searching her belongings, officers recovered 1,960 Yaba tablets packed in 10 packets. The tablets are estimated to be worth around ₹12 lakh.
