Three shops destroyed at Bishramganj blaze

Date:

Agartala, 9th May 2026 :  A devastating fire broke out in Bishramganj market this afternoon, reducing three shops to ashes and sparking panic among local traders.

Preliminary reports suggest the blaze may have originated from incense sticks inside one of the shops. The incident took place barely 300 meters from the Bishramganj Fire Station. Within moments, the flames engulfed three shops, leaving them completely gutted.

Witnesses immediately alerted Bishramganj Police and fire service officials. Three fire engines rushed to the spot and eventually brought the flames under control. However, by then, all goods inside the shops had been destroyed.

Local traders have accused the fire service of negligence, claiming that a quicker response could have prevented such extensive damage. The affected shop owners are reported to be facing severe financial hardship in the aftermath of the disaster.
