Tinku chairs ESIC regional board meeting; Stresses stronger social security coverage for workers

Agartala, 22nd June 2026:  Tripura Labour Minister Tinku Roy today chaired the third Regional Board Meeting of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) at the Secretariat Conference Hall in New Capital Complex, Agartala. The meeting focused on enhancing social security measures and expanding welfare benefits for workers across the state.

As Chairman of the ESIC Regional Board, Roy underscored the government’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of the workforce through effective implementation of social security schemes and welfare initiatives.

Speaking at the meeting, the minister highlighted the crucial role of ESIC in providing protection and support to workers and their families. He said that strengthening welfare programmes and ensuring wider access to social security benefits remain key priorities of the state government.

“The welfare and security of workers are integral to inclusive development. We reviewed the progress of various initiatives and discussed measures to make welfare schemes more effective, accessible, and responsive to the needs of workers,” Roy stated.

The meeting also reviewed the status of ongoing ESIC programmes and explored strategies to expand coverage so that a larger number of workers can avail themselves of social security benefits. Discussions were held on improving service delivery mechanisms and ensuring timely access to welfare assistance.

Among those present were Labour Department Secretary Tapas Roy, Labour Commissioner Biswajit Pal, Joint Labour Commissioner Binoy Bhushan Das, along with senior officials and representatives from the department.

Officials said the deliberations centered on broadening the reach of ESIC services, strengthening workers’ rights, and enhancing the overall social security framework in the state.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from the state government and ESIC authorities to build a more inclusive and robust welfare system for the working population of Tripura.
