Agartala, 8th  February 2026 :   To clarify the party’s stance on the Union Budget, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a press conference at its district office in Kailashahar this afternoon. The briefing was attended by State Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Tinku Roy, BJP General Secretary Arun Saha, and party spokesperson Debashish Sen.

Addressing the media, Minister Tinku Roy said Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s proposed budget would prepare the nation to meet future challenges. He described it as a roadmap for development, self-reliance, and a technology-driven economy.

Roy noted that the budget earmarks nearly Rs 12.22 lakh crore for infrastructure, which will significantly boost roads, railways, and airports. He added that the new income tax framework has been simplified for ordinary citizens.

On industry and trade, Roy highlighted initiatives to position India as a global manufacturing hub, including the Semiconductor Mission with an investment proposal of around Rs 40,000 crore. He emphasized that women’s empowerment and social development also received special focus in the budget.

Tourism promotion featured prominently, with plans to train new guides and link northeastern states to Buddhist tourism circuits. In sports, the minister pointed to the proposed “Khelo India Mission,” aimed at expanding youth participation in athletics.

Roy also praised the success of the Digital India initiative, noting that 99% of financial transactions are now digital, 44 crore people use digital lockers, and nearly six lakh villages have common service centers.

On aviation, he expressed optimism that the plan to build 120 new airports could pave the way for operationalizing Kailasahar Airport.
