Agartala, 11th March 2026: In a major step towards enhancing the welfare of construction workers in the state, Labour Minister Tinku Roy today inaugurated a dynamic web-based application and mobile app under the construction workers welfare project.
The initiative, organized by the Labour Department, aims to simplify the registration process for workers and ensure timely access to the benefits of various welfare schemes.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Roy emphasized the crucial role of public representatives in the three-tier panchayats in ensuring that the benefits of central and state government schemes reach the workers. He urged that projects related to worker welfare should be regularly discussed in the meetings of every panchayat samiti and block advisory committee, stating, “A state or a country cannot move forward without the overall welfare of its workers.”

He revealed that the state has collected 53 crore 18 lakh 92 thousand 423 taka cess during the financial year 2025-26, which is being utilized for workers’ welfare. In the current year alone, financial assistance has been provided to 26,729 workers in areas including education, marriage, maternity, major disease treatment, disability, pensions, death benefits, funerals, healthcare under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, school essentials, and flood relief, totaling 23 crore 6 lakh 17 thousand 668 taka.
