Agartala, 17th November 2025: The Unakoti District Education department today organized the district-level NIPUN Fest 2025 at the Unakoti Kalakshetra grounds amid great enthusiasm and community participation. The festival was held in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, focusing on strengthening children’s Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) skills.
The event was inaugurated by Social Education and Social Welfare minister Tinku Roy in presence of Unakoti Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Amalendu Das, District Education Officer Prashanta Kalikdar, and Kailashahar Municipal Council Chairperson Chapala Debroy, among others.
The Government of India launched the NIPUN Bharat Mission on July 5, 2021, to ensure foundational language and mathematical skills among children. In Tripura, the initiative was introduced as NIPUN Tripura Mission on November 18, 2022. Over the past three years, Unakoti district has consistently undertaken special programs to achieve the mission’s goals.
The highlights of the festival include: A total of 80 selected Teaching Learning Materials (TLMs) were showcased from Pecharthal, Kumarghat, Machmara (TTAADC), Chandipur, and Gournagar blocks; Stalls promoting indigenous and healthy food, along with awareness campaigns on hygiene practices, drew special attention; and Cultural performances and active participation of educators added vibrancy to the event.
According to the Rashtriya PARAKH Survey 2024, children in Unakoti district have matched the national average (49%) in foundational language skills and surpassed the national average (61%) in numeracy.
Speaking at the event, Minister Tinku Roy emphasized: “NIPUN Tripura is not merely an education department project; it is a social movement for our future generations. Strong foundations in language and mathematics will empower children to face tomorrow’s challenges. The success of Unakoti district makes us proud. With collective effort, we aim to bring 100% of children under FLN competency. NIPUN Fest provides a platform to showcase both children’s creativity and teachers’ innovation in TLM development, taking Tripura’s foundational education forward.”
Other dignitaries noted that the exhibition of teaching materials, cultural programs, and educators’ involvement have infused new energy into the district. They called for continued collaborative efforts to further strengthen FLN achievements in the coming years.
