Tipra Motha leader assaulted on duty doctor, Minister condemns

Agartala, 17th January 2024:  In a shocking incident at Garji Primary Hospital in Udaipur subdivision, a leader of Tipra Motha Bir Lal Noatia allegedly assaulted a on duty doctor identified as Dr. Saptadeep Das on Tuesday night.

The incident occurred around 9 pm when Dr. Saptadeep Das attended to a patient complaining of abdominal pain. Bir Lal Noatia and Bikash Noatia of Tipra Motha reportedly entered the hospital and began misbehaving with the nursing staff. When the doctor requested them to maintain decorum, Bir Lal insisted on being given special treatment due to his political position.

In response, Dr. Saptadeep Das suggested discussing the matter in the morning, given Bir Lal Noyatia’s apparent state of intoxication. This further agitated leader, leading to a violent assault with keys in hand, causing injuries to the doctor.

The injured doctor, is currently receiving treatment at Gomati District Hospital, where Minister Pranajit Singha Roy and local MLAs visited to express solidarity with the medical professional.

Minister Pranajit Singh Roy condemned the attack, emphasizing that such incidents would not be tolerated. He stressed the sanctity of the medical profession, declaring that strict punishment would be imposed on the accused, regardless of their political affiliation. A case has been registered against Bir Lal Noatia with the Garji outpost police station.
