Agartala, 3rd October 2026 : The Tipra Motha Party has begun preparations for the October 5 counting of votes for the Village Committee elections, with the party leadership expressing confidence in securing a decisive mandate across the tribal council areas.
A review meeting was convened by the party in Agartala on Saturday to assess the September 28 polling and chalk out arrangements for the counting day. Senior leaders, MLAs and representatives associated with the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council took part in the meeting.
Party leaders said their preliminary assessment points towards a strong electoral performance. They estimated that Tipra Motha could emerge victorious in between 470 and 500 of the 587 Village Committee seats.
Minister of State and senior Tipra Motha leader Brishaketu Debbarma said the party had gathered feedback from different areas and its assessment suggested that it could win around 80–90 per cent of the seats.
The party also claimed that more than 200 seats had already been won uncontested. According to the leadership, the focus is now on the seats where candidates faced electoral contests, with the results to be established through the counting process.
A senior party leader said, “Our assessment is based on feedback from various areas and organisational units. We are confident of securing between 470 and 500 seats. If the seats won by NDA partners are considered together, the combined tally could cross 500.”
The leadership maintained that the assessment was not based merely on individual constituency calculations but also on reports received from party workers and local-level organisations following the polling.
Party leaders also discussed arrangements to ensure the presence of authorised representatives at counting centres on October 5. They said the counting process would be closely monitored and party workers had been instructed to remain vigilant throughout the proceedings.
While Tipra Motha has projected a sizeable victory, the final seat tally will depend on the official counting and declaration of results.
