Agartala, 11th March 2026: Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, founder of the Tipra Motha Party, announced on Wednesday that his party is preparing to contest the 2028 Assembly elections with the aim of forming the government in Agartala, promising that the Chief Minister will be from the indigenous community. He stated that the outcome will largely depend on the results of the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections.
Speaking at a rally in Killa, Gomati District, Pradyot highlighted the importance of the district council polls in shaping Tripura’s political future. “Tipra Motha represents the hopes and aspirations of our indigenous people. The BJP, meanwhile, has failed to prioritize our communities. The upcoming elections will decide the path ahead. Tripura belongs to its tribal people, and only unity can secure a better future for our next generation,” he said.
Pradyot criticized the BJP for policies that, he claims, neglect tribal development. “While BJP leaders send their children to English-medium schools, our tribal children face barriers. Village Council elections have been delayed, and funds meant for our communities are being misused. The BJP may claim confidence, but the reality is different,” he stated.
He reiterated that a tribal Chief Minister would ensure better opportunities for future generations. “The district council elections will determine leadership. For us, the community always comes first, and only through solidarity can we overcome the BJP’s influence,” Pradyot concluded, calling for unity above political differences.
