Agartala, 19th September 2025:    The Tipra Motha Party (TMP) — a partner in Tripura’s ruling alliance — has announced that it will press for clarifications on two key issues during the ongoing Legislative Assembly session: the implementation of the tripartite agreement and measures taken to curb illegal infiltration.

Addressing a press conference today, Forest Minister and senior TMP leader Animesh Debbarma said the party would move a “short notice discussion” to directly question the concerned ministers.

“Even though we are part of the government, many things remain unclear to us. Our duty is to raise the concerns of the people, and we will do so inside the Assembly. The Assembly must be a platform for debate, not confrontation,” Debbarma stated.

Responding to possible criticism, he clarified that TIPRA Motha’s move should not be misconstrued as opposition to the government.“Some may argue that TIPRA Motha is speaking against the government despite being a part of it. That is not correct. We are a small constituent of the ruling alliance, and naturally, some decisions are taken without our knowledge. As representatives of the people, we are bound to seek answers on their behalf,” he said.

Debbarma emphasized that TMP’s foremost priority remains safeguarding the rights and interests of the indigenous Tiprasa community, which he alleged often feels left out of governance.“Our demand for answers is not for our party’s gain, but to ensure that marginalized voices are heard,” he asserted.
