Tipra Motha Warns Against Reopening Bangladesh Mission in Agartala Amid Minority Safety Concerns

Agartala, 23rd December 2025:  Tipra Motha Party founder and Tripura royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma on Tuesday stated that the Bangladesh Assistant High Commissioner’s office in Agartala should not reopen unless concerns over attacks on Hindu minorities and anti-India statements in Bangladesh are addressed.

Debbarma’s remarks came after the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala suspended all visa and consular services following protests by the Youth Tipra Motha (YTF). He said the suspension followed demonstrations and a press conference in which he had asserted that India would respond firmly to any threats against its diplomatic missions.

Addressing the people of Tripura and YTF members, Debbarma emphasized unity beyond political affiliations, stating that even a small state like Tripura could be strong if its people stood together in the national interest.

He noted that services at the Bangladesh mission in Tripura have been halted and cautioned that reopening the office should depend on assurances regarding the safety of Hindu minorities in Bangladesh and an end to what he described as hostile rhetoric against India.

“This is not about Tipra Motha taking credit,” Debbarma said. “It is about India, about unity, and about standing together as Indians first.”

He also appealed to citizens to express their concerns collectively, stressing that national identity must take precedence over political differences.
