Agartala, 30th November 2023: A preparatory meeting was held for the upcoming Tirthamukh Poush Sankranti fair. During the meeting It was decided that the Tirthmukh Makar Sankranti fair will be inaugurated on January 14. The fair will continue for two days. Like every year Tarpan, Asthi Bisarjan, Ganga Puja and other religious ceremonies will be followed. Temporary restrooms will be built around the fair premises for overnight stay of pilgrims coming to the fair.
There will be drinking water and toilet facilities. Apart from this, security forces engaged in law and order work will be stocked with adequate lighting system, medical services. CCTV will be installed at various places to monitor the fair. In addition, the Department of Information and Culture will perform a mixed cultural program throughout the night at the open stage of the fair.
Exhibition booths of various government departments will also be opened. It was also decided in the meeting that land will be distributed before the fair so that more than 400 shopkeepers can sit with their stalls in this year’s fair. In the meeting Gomati Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati in charge Debal Debroy, MLA Rampada Jamatia, MLA Sanjay Manik Tripura, TTAADC EM Dolly Reang, Korbook Block Advisory Committee Vice Chairman Pranab Kumar Tripura, District Magistrate Gomati Tarit Kanti Chakma, District Additional Superintendent of Police Suman Majumdar, Korbook Sub-Divisional Magistrate Partha Das, BDO Dibyendu Das and Samajpatis of Janajati Samaj along with officials of various departments of District and Sub-Division were present.
