TIUT VC reinforces commitment to holistic education in Northeast’s VC conference

Agartala, 3rd July 2024:   Techno India University, Tripura (TIUT) Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Ratan Kumar Saha participated in the North Eastern and Eastern Zone Vice-Chancellors’ Conference on “Implementation of NEP 2020,” held on June 28, 2024, at Pragjyotishpur University, Guwahati, Assam. The conference, coordinated by Nagaland University in collaboration with the University Grants Commission (UGC), featured the participation of 33 Universities, including state, private, and central institutions. The conference included a total of 10 thematic sessions covering various aspects of NEP 2020.

During the conference, Prof. Saha actively engaged in discussions, sharing TIUT’s progress and commitment to implementing NEP 2020 and further, had a fruitful discussion with the Chairman of UGC, Prof. M. Jagadesh Kumar. In his discussions, he stressed on the 40-year educational legacy of the Techno India Group and emphasized the University’s adherence to the holistic principles of education for all and the transformative impact on education and research at the University with support and cooperation from the Govt. of Tripura, which has created new opportunities for students in Tripura.

Additionally, TIUT is already UGC listed and AICTE accredited for 2024-25. Further, Prof. Saha gave his inputs on the formulation of a roadmap incorporating the feedback from participants: formulation of a common syllabus, cross-campus teaching, and a cluster MoU approach to optimize resource sharing across institutes to streamline the multiple entry and exit model.

The key ideas on effective implementation of NEP 2020 discussed in the sessions were multidisciplinary and holistic education, focusing on integrating local knowledge and life skills; digital empowerment, with standardized digital infrastructure and teacher training for blended learning; skill development, emphasizing regional competencies and local industry engagement; research and innovation, including providing seed money and mentor-mentee systems; equitable and inclusive education through community engagement and local language development; emphasizing the Indian knowledge system with dedicated cells and faculty development programs; and internationalization through twinning programs, semester abroad opportunities, and cultural orientation for international students. TIUT remains committed to implementing these ideas.
