Agartala: September 13. Trinamool Congress’s Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev on Tuesday has written a letter to DGP Amitab Ranjan demanding investigatation why BJP has brought several motor-cycles in the state from Uttar Pradesh.

In the letter, Dev said claimed that several motor-cycles (2 wheelers) are being purchased by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and brought into the state of Tripura ahead of the Assembly election.

“I am writing to you to bring to your notice that to the best of my information several motor-cycles (2 wheelers) are being purchased by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and brought into the state of Tripura. These motor-cycles have Uttar Pradesh Registration (Number plates) and I have apprehension that given the past record of political violence in the state of Tripura the motor-cycles may well be misused in the coming days as the Assembly Elections are round the corner”, the letter reads.

Dev in her letter alleged that in the past also the notorious bike Bahinis (bike borne miscreants) have created havoc in Tripura attacking opposition parties to intimidate them.

“In fact Trinamool Congress had to move court to ask that law and order is maintained during elections and otherwise. I am enclosing some photographs of the motor-cycles that I think have arrived in Tripura. Please verify the same. I request you to investigate the matter. Please note that much to my dismay and as reported by the media the workers and leaders of the Opposition Parties are continuously under attack from the BJP”, the letter reads.

She further said that this is unfortunate that the law and order situation of the state of Tripura has been reflected in the 2020-21 NCRB Report as a state with the highest number of cases of political violence.

“I will be grateful if you take appropriate action to ensure that peace is maintained”, she added.
