Agartala, 6th December 2023 : Alarming revelations have exposed the skeletal state of the tourism sector in Neermahal, a prominent tourist destination in the state. Once a bustling hub attracting visitors from various parts of the state, Neermahal now resembles a neglected area with minimal facilities for tourists, painting a grim picture of the state’s tourism development.
The dilapidated condition of Neermahal is evident upon firsthand observation, as tourists encounter a lack of essential amenities. The absence of facilities such as clean drinking water, proper sanitation, and specifically, inadequate toilet facilities for female tourists has marred the overall experience for visitors. The drinking water filter, a critical resource, reportedly undergoes cleaning only once a year, raising concerns among those relying on it.
Local sources have pointed out the deteriorating cleanliness standards and the insufficient role played by the committee responsible for overseeing Neermahal’s affairs. Despite the regular influx of visitors, the committee appears to be inactive, contributing to the dismal state of the tourist center.
This revelation comes in stark contrast to the state government’s rhetoric on the development of tourism centers. While promises of progress are made, the ground reality reflects a distressing condition in several tourist centers across the state, including Neermahal.
