Agartala, 6th May 2024 : In a heart-wrenching incident following a severe storm that swept through the Sabroom sub-division, the residence of Mridul Das, situated in the Baganpara locality of the Ludhua tea garden, suffered extensive damage due to heavy rainfall around 9 PM on the night of May 5th.
It is reported that a massive mango tree standing adjacent to the Das family’s abode, fell down to the storm’s fury and toppled onto their dwelling. At the time of the calamity, Mridul Das’s spouse Shipra Das and their two adolescent daughters Anuradha and Anupama were inside, asleep and unaware of the impending danger.
The collapse resulted in serious injuries to the youngest member of the family, nine-year-old Anupama Das subsequently rushed to the Sabroom sub-district hospital for immediate medical attention. Given the gravity of her injuries, the on-duty physicians made the decision to transfer her to the South Tripura district hospital at Santirbazar which is better equipped to provide advanced care.
In response to the disaster, the tea garden’s management promptly notified the Sabroom sub-divisional authorities early in the morning. A team of civil volunteers from the Disaster Management unit, led by DCM Manoj Prabhakar Pal and DCM Ananyajoy Chakma, mobilized and arrived at the scene to offer assistance.
Upon their arrival, the team embarked on the arduous task of removing the fallen tree and debris. They also extended their support to the Das family, assuring them of aid during this difficult time. The local community has rallied around the family, providing comfort and assistance as they navigate the aftermath of this unfortunate event.
