Tragic accident in front of Tripura University: Bike rider crushed by bus’ wheels

Agartala, 18th May 2024:  In a tragic incident, a person lost his life after being crushed by the wheels of a bus in front of Tripura University (Central). The accident took place on Saturday morning when a collision took place between bus bearing registration number TR03-1340 and bike’s registration number TR07E-7360.

The victim has been identified as Samrat Orang (40), was on his way to Agartala for work when tragedy struck. The bus was coming from the opposite direction and collided with Samrat’s bike near Suryamannagar area under Amtali police station. His head went under the rear wheel of the bus, resulting in fatal injuries. Local witnesses immediately informed the Amtali police station and the fire brigade.

Firefighters promptly rescued Samrat and rushed him to the hospital. Unfortunately, his injuries were severe, and he succumbed to them. His body was later taken to Tripura Medical College and Dr BR Ambedkar Teaching Hospital at Hapania morgue for autopsy. The family members of Samrat Orang arrived at the hospital, grief-stricken by the tragic news.

Kamalasagar MLA Antara Sarkar Deb expressed deep condolences on the untimely death of Samrat Orang.

Meanwhile, a case has been filed against the bus driver, who fled the scene. The police are actively pursuing the driver, and both the bus and the bike involved in the accident are now in the custody of the Amtali police station.
