Tragic demise of BJP leader in bike accident, CM, Rajib condoles

Agartala, 21st January 2024 :   In a shocking turn of events, Arup Chowdhury, the General Secretary of BJP Kamalpur Mandal, met with a tragic accident that claimed his life on Saturday night. The incident occurred at Kalachari village on the Kamalpur-Ambasa road, near his residence, sending waves of sorrow across the Kamalpur sub-division.

Arup Chowdhury had been engaged in party work at the Manik Bhandar Bazar BJP office earlier that evening. Sources indicate that he left for his Kalachari home when the unfortunate accident transpired.

According to eyewitness accounts, Arup Chowdhury suffered a severe accident on his bike near his residence, leaving him critically injured. Promptly informed, the fire brigade personnel reached the scene and rescued him, rushing him to Bimal Singh Memorial Hospital in Kamalpur.

Despite the efforts of the medical staff, Arup Chowdhury was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. The doctor on duty estimated his age to be around 45 years. Notably, there were no visible external injuries on the body, except for a slight amputation of one finger. The preliminary assessment suggests the possibility of internal injuries leading to fatal bleeding.

The hospital staff notified the police about the incident, prompting their immediate response. MLA Manoj Kanti Deb, upon learning about the tragedy, hastened to the hospital. Meanwhile, grief enveloped the hospital premises as family members of the deceased BJP leader struggled to come to terms with the sudden loss.

After his death, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharya has condoled.
