Agartala, 11th August 2024: A tragic incident took place at GBP Hospital where Sharmistha Banik, a nurse by profession passed away before she could hold her newborn child. Sharmistha, who was six months pregnant had been experiencing severe shortness of breath in the last couple of days. Despite regular medical check-ups and medication, her condition worsened.
Sharmistha, a resident of Charilam was rushed to GBP Hospital by her husband Shantanu Chowdhury. Upon arrival, doctors performed an emergency delivery and their child was born. Both mother and child were placed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) due to their critical conditions. Tragically, Sharmistha succumbed to her illness early Sunday morning, leaving her husband and newborn behind.
Sharmistha and Shantanu had been married for a year and a half and were eagerly anticipating the arrival of their child. Shantanu, devastated by the loss expressed his grief over the shattered dreams of building a happy family with his beloved wife and their child.
The community mourns the loss of Sharmistha, who was known for her dedication to her profession and her family.
