Agartala, 24th February 2025: In an unexpected turn of fate, an elderly couple from Kanchanmala found themselves in a situation they never imagined. The heart-wrenching scene captured by media personnel reveals the struggles of Ashutosh Samgong, a 70-year-old resident of Ward No. 2 of Kala Ban Gram Panchayat under Matabari RD Block in Gomati district. This story highlights a harsh reality where parents often seen as embodiments of divine love and care are left to shoulder sorrow in their old age by the very children they nurtured.
Ashutosh Samgong, along with his wife Inu Samgong once raised their three daughters and two sons with immense hope and care. They had dreams for their children and after marrying off their daughters and sons, they expected a life of peace and comfort. However, fate had a different plan. Their two sons Sunam Samgong and Andriya Samgong have not been in contact with their parents for the past 15-16 years and have completely neglected their duties towards them.
The elderly couple, now frail with age, is left to fend for themselves. Despite his age and weakened state, Ashutosh Samgong continues to work tirelessly to make ends meet. He has been working on the construction of a paved culvert in the Kanchanmala area, laboring all day and spending the nights under a small temporary shelter. His plight is a stark reminder of the struggles faced by many elderly individuals who, despite their contributions to raising their children, find themselves abandoned and neglected in their later years.
In a candid conversation with media personnel, Ashutosh Samgong shared his sorrows and hardships. He revealed that while many elderly people receive old age allowances, he has been left out for unknown reasons. In a desperate plea, he appealed to the Chief Minister of the state to arrange for an allowance for him as soon as possible. He hopes that this news will reach the authorities and stir some compassion, leading to immediate assistance.
