Agartala: September 07. The government’s decision to transfer Dr. Deep Kumar Debbarma has spurred a furor and caused embarrassment to the state government. It has also created ripple in the medical and health department of the state.

Dr Debbarma who joined the service in the year 2009 has tirelessly worked for the entire health department of the state and has achieved success. When Covid-19 had hit the entire country along with Tripura, the then Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb who was also a health minister has appointed Dr. Deep Debbarma as a surveillance officer of Covid.

Medical experts believe that the way Dr Debbarma has worked during Covid, nobody could.“Transferring such a genuine and talented doctor is not a good idea. We have no clue why he was transferred. There are no allegations or complaint against Dr. Debbarma. When his father breathed last, he even didn’t take leave and served for the state”, a senior doctor said.

Dr Debbarma recently transferred to Sabroom sub-division in South district all of a sudden without giving any cause and providing him any post. However, experts are worried that this step of the state government will might adversely impact on the health department.

Although shifting or transferring government officials in other locations is expected but sources said that soon after Dr Manik Saha who is a totally non-political person started taking some childish steps by transferring genuine officials whether it is doctor or in the police department from their respective posts. Sources from the government claimed that CM Dr. Saha is trying to bring his own and close aid to run the administrative works.
