Transport Minister Highlights Public Safety Benefits of Proposed Railway Overbridges in Jirania

Agartala, 17th November 2026:  Railway overbridges are set to improve daily life and enhance safety in Jirania, Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said today.

Speaking during a key meeting at the Jirania Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office, Chowdhury underlined that these structures not only keep train operations smooth but also allow pedestrians and vehicles to cross railway tracks safely, reducing the risk of accidents.

The meeting, convened to address the proposed construction of overbridges across railway crossings in the Majlishpur Assembly constituency and Jirania subdivision, brought together the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, elected representatives, and officials from the Transport Department, Public Works Department (Roads and Buildings), NHIDCL, and Northeast Frontier Railway.

Officials discussed technical, administrative, and coordination challenges to ensure the projects are completed efficiently and on schedule. The minister stressed that cooperation among all departments is essential to accelerate construction and enhance connectivity, ultimately benefiting the residents of the region.

Chowdhury highlighted that timely implementation of the overbridges will not only improve infrastructure but also play a vital role in public safety, reinforcing the government’s commitment to safer and more convenient travel for all.
