TRESP holds state-level workshop on post-harvest marketing

Date:

Agartala,  10th  October 2026 :  The Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP) organised a two-day state-level workshop on post-harvest management and marketing at Pragna Bhavan in Agartala on October 8 and 9, aiming to strengthen agricultural marketing systems and enhance income opportunities for farmers across the state.

The workshop was organised by the Agriculture and Horticulture Project Implementation Unit (PIU) under the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. A total of 78 participants attended the programme, which focused on improving post-harvest practices, promoting market-oriented agriculture and strengthening farmers’ access to wider markets.

Key areas of discussion included post-harvest management, crop planning, cluster development, digital marketing, export opportunities and the establishment of effective market linkages. Experts, including representatives from the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), shared their knowledge and practical insights on agricultural marketing and export prospects.

The training aimed to equip field-level functionaries with the necessary skills and knowledge to guide farmers and Producer Groups (PGs) in adopting improved post-harvest practices, identifying market opportunities and securing better returns for their produce.

The initiative forms part of TRESP’s broader efforts to strengthen rural livelihoods by encouraging market-driven agricultural activities and improving the capacity of Producer Groups. By enhancing marketing knowledge and facilitating connections with broader markets, the project seeks to help farming communities in Tripura improve their income potential and build sustainable agricultural enterprises.

The workshop also highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts among agricultural institutions, field-level functionaries and Producer Groups to develop a stronger and more efficient agricultural marketing ecosystem in the state.
