TRESP’s fisheries training boosts skills and livelihoods of rural farmers at Kanchanpur

Agartala, 13th September 2025:   Focused three-day training on fish farming was successfully held at Kanchanpur Town Hall from 10th to 12th September 2025, organized by SF Kanchanpur under Fisheries PIU, TRESP. The programme brought together 15 Fishery Producer Groups representing around 200 rural beneficiaries to enhance their skills and adopt sustainable aquaculture practices.

The event was inaugurated by Sailendra Nath, with chief guest Dipali Reang and other local leaders in attendance. Special appreciation was extended to Sangita Paul, District Manager Fisheries (North & Unakuti), TRESP, whose dedication and leadership played a key role in engaging participants and addressing their challenges.

The training covered essential topics such as pond management, water quality monitoring, seed production, harvesting, market linkages, and polyculture techniques. Practical demonstrations helped participants gain hands-on experience to apply in their farming activities.

This initiative is a significant step in promoting self-employment and improving rural livelihoods. With Sangita Paul’s leadership and the collaborative efforts of TRESP staff and community members, the programme empowered fish farmers with new knowledge and practical tools to enhance productivity and sustainability in their aquaculture ventures.
