Tributes poured on Indira Gandhi’s death anniversary, Congress continues joining spree

Agartala Oct 31: With the assembly elections drawing closer, tendency to join Congress from BJP is gaining momentum every single day. Tripura Pradesh Congress on Monday celebrated the death anniversary of Indiara Gandhi with due dignity across the state.

Leaders and activists of Tripura Pradesh Congress paid floral tributes to the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary. Senior Congress leader and former MLA Gopal Chandra Roy asserted that the Congress is the only alternative that the people of the state will chose in order to free themselves from the misrule flourished by the ruling BJP.

He said, the Congress will form government in Tripura in the upcoming 2023 assembly elections following the path shown by Nehru, Rajiv and Indira Gandhi. On this day, former chief minister and veteran Congress leader Sameer Ranjan Barman, former MLA Gopal Chandra Roy and others hoisted the national and party flags at the Congress Bhavan, Agartala.After that, the party leaders and workers paid tribute by garlanding the portrait of the former prime minister.

Talking to the reporters, former PCC president and ex-MLA Gopal Roy criticized the BJP government on various issues. He said, “The BJP has failed to keep its promises made to the people of the state prior 2018 assembly polls”.He said instead of giving good governance to the people the BJP has unleashed a regime of violence and terror where women in the state are not safer anymore.He further said Congress will form the government in Tripura in 2023 polls following the ideologies of the great leaders like Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi.Later in a joining program in front of the Congress Bhavan Agartala, around 49 voters joined the Congress leaving other political parties.Former Chief Minister Samir Ranjan Barman, Ex-MLA Gopal Roy and others welcomed the new joiners by handing over party flags.
