Tripura, AAI Sign MoU to Digitize Building Clearance, Streamline Urban Development

Agartala, 30th July 2025:  In a significant stride toward enhancing digital governance and improving the ease of doing business in Tripura, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the Government of Tripura have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to digitally integrate building plan clearance systems.

This strategic collaboration links Tripura’s Single Window System (SWS-OBPAS) with AAI’s NOC Application System (NOCAS), enabling seamless online processing of building height clearances through the use of Colour Coded Zoning Maps (CCZM).

According to AAI’s official post on X, the integration is set to reduce procedural delays, boost transparency, and facilitate better coordination in urban planning and infrastructure development.

“Building height clearance applications that fall within the permissible CCZM grids will now be auto-settled, eliminating the need for applicants to submit separate No Objection Certificates (NOC) to AAI,” the post said. “However, structures proposed within designated Red Zones—critical to air navigation safety—will still require manual clearance from AAI.”

The MoU was signed by Purbita Thakur Sinha, Executive Director (ATM), AAI; M. Zhimo, General Manager (ATM), North Eastern Region, AAI; and Megha Jain, Director of the Urban Development Department, Government of Tripura.

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of M. Suresh, Member (Air Navigation Services), AAI.
