Date:

Agartala, 24th July 2026:  The Committee on Public Undertakings (CPU) of the Tripura Legislative Assembly conducted a scheduled spot-study visit to the Tripura Gas Based Power Plant (TGBPS) at Monarchak in Sepahijala district on July 23 as part of the Assembly Secretariat’s official legislative inspection programme.

The visiting delegation of MLAs was led by the Committee Chairman, Shri Chitta Ranjan Debbarma.

The delegation was received at the plant by Shri Gautom Gogoi, Head of Project (HOP). During the visit, Shri Ajit Dubey, Deputy General Manager (Technical), delivered a detailed technical presentation highlighting the plant’s operational performance, power generation statistics, and recent achievements.

The meeting also focused on the key challenges affecting the plant’s operations, particularly constraints in power evacuation and the shortage of natural gas supply, which continue to impact generation capacity. The committee members reviewed these issues and discussed possible measures to improve the plant’s overall efficiency and performance.

The spot-study visit formed part of the Legislative Assembly’s ongoing efforts to assess the functioning of public sector undertakings and understand the operational challenges faced by key infrastructure projects in the state.
