Agartala, 12th February 2026:   A delegation from the Tripura Legislative Assembly’s Scheduled Tribe (ST) Committee has begun a two-day visit to Dhalai district, focusing on inspections of hostels for ST students.

This morning, the team visited hostels in Kamalpur and later in Ambassa. The delegation was led by ST Committee Chairman Pramod Reang and included MLAs Ram Pada Jamatia, Ranjit Debbarma, Nandita Debbarma Reang, and Mailafru Mog. Ambassa MLA Chittaranjan Debbarma accompanied the team during the local inspection. Officials from the Tribal Welfare Department and representatives from the Assembly Secretariat were also present.

Speaking to reporters, MLA Ram Pada Jamatia said the purpose of the visit was to identify problems faced by students in these hostels. “We will prepare a detailed report and present it in the Assembly,” he noted.

The committee has already completed visits to hostels in North and South Tripura districts. The ongoing Dhalai inspection is part of a phased program that will eventually cover all districts, ensuring a comprehensive review of conditions in ST hostels across the state.
