Agartala, 17th June 2025: Tripura Pradesh BJP Secretary Devid Debbarma on Tuesday met Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, urging immediate steps for the construction of a girls’ hostel at Naireng Kami Ashram English Medium High School in Hatai Kotor under the West Tripura district.
In a memorandum submitted to the minister, the BJP leader highlighted the challenges faced by tribal girl students due to the lack of residential facilities at the school. Located in Khamting Bari, Hatai Kotor—near the Bankumari Temple—the school is the only English medium institution catering to students from several remote tribal villages.
“While a boys’ hostel exists, the absence of a girls’ hostel has become a significant barrier for many tribal girls wishing to continue their education in an English medium setting,” the memorandum stated.
Devid Debbarma pointed out that, in the absence of a hostel, many girls are forced to travel long distances or drop out entirely, compromising their safety and academic future. He stressed that setting up a girls’ hostel would not only promote education among tribal girls but also provide them with a secure and conducive environment for learning.
“I earnestly request your kind intervention to sanction and facilitate the construction of a girls’ hostel within or near the school premises. This step will empower our tribal daughters through education,” he wrote. The BJP leader urged the minister to treat the matter with utmost priority, considering its importance for the region’s educational and social development.
