Agartala, 27th March 2026: The Indian National Congress has submitted a list of 40 star campaigners to the Election Commission for the upcoming by-election in Tripura’s Dharmanagar constituency, which will be held on April 9, 2026.
The by-election was announced after the death of BJP leader and Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen. The Congress has nominated Chayan Bhattacharya as its candidate for the seat.
In its official communication, the party informed the Election Commission about the campaigners as required under election rules. The list includes senior leaders such as Jairam Ramesh, Sachin Pilot, Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka, Imran Pratapgarhi, Alka Lamba, and Christopher Tilak.
Several state leaders are also part of the campaign team, including Tripura Congress President Asish Kumar Saha and MLAs Birajit Sinha, Sudip Roy Barman, and Gopal Chandra Roy.
Asish Kumar Saha said that campaigning has already started. He added that the star campaigners are expected to arrive in Tripura on March 31 and will take part in campaign activities until April 5.
