Agartala, 15th July 2025:  In a moment of pride for the state, six children from Tripura have been selected to represent India at the prestigious ALOHA Abacus & Mental Arithmetic International Competition in Cambodia. The global event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at the PH Grand Hall in Phnom Penh.

The competition will witness young participants from over 17 countries solving 70 arithmetic problems in just five minutes, testing their speed, accuracy, and mental sharpness. The selected participants from Tripura are Sokat Gurung, Bizu Chakma, Chayanika Debnath, Seanan Debbarma, Sristica Chowdhury, and Nonda Chakma — all aged between 4 and 14 years.

On July 21, the six children will also have the distinguished opportunity to meet the Ambassador of India to Cambodia, marking another milestone in their journey and highlighting the achievements of Northeast India on the global stage.

Tripura has a commendable history of representation in international arithmetic competitions, with children previously showcasing their talents in Bangladesh, Malaysia, Russia, and China between 2017 and 2023.

ALOHA Abacus Northeast Regional, a division of Rising Child Group and a pioneer in introducing abacus-based mental arithmetic training in Tripura since 2009, expressed pride in the students’ accomplishments. Managing Director Mr. Ranabir Roy thanked the community for its continued support and urged local media to celebrate and inspire young achievers.
