Agartala, 21st September 2025 :  Asish Kumar Saha, President of Tripura Pradesh Congress, has written to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha urging immediate action to address the economic hardships faced by the rural poor ahead of Durga Puja.

In his letter, Saha highlighted the unresolved issues raised during a Congress delegation meeting with the Chief Minister on September 6, where demands for payment of arrears of wages, provision of minimum ten days of work in government departments—including Rega—and other welfare measures were discussed.

The Congress leader expressed concern over the continued delay in addressing these demands, despite repeated reminders, including a memorandum submitted to 23 sub-division administrators on September 15, aimed at curbing the rising prices of essential commodities such as pulses, edible oil, sugar, and other daily necessities.

“Prompt payment of wages and ensuring work for at least ten days for poor villagers is crucial for their survival, especially during festival times. The government must act immediately to prevent the joy of Sharad Tsav from being marred for the common people,” Saha stated.

The letter also called on the state government to take effective steps to control artificial price hikes, ensuring that both rural and urban families can celebrate the festival with their children and elderly without undue hardship.

The Congress has urged the government to fulfill these demands at the earliest to safeguard the welfare of the economically vulnerable sections of society.
