Tripura Congress protests NEET issue, Sudip seeks Education Minister’s resignation

Date:

Agartala, 21st July 2026;   Tripura Congress on Wednesday organised a protest rally in Agartala over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations, including NEET and RE-NEET, and the police action against protesting students and youths.

The party demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and sought an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the ongoing education-related controversies.

Addressing the rally, former Minister and Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman said the protest was part of a nationwide campaign led by the Congress against alleged exam fraud, question paper leaks and the deteriorating condition of the education system.

He alleged that students protesting against irregularities were subjected to police action instead of receiving justice. “The voices of students are being suppressed through force. Those responsible for protecting the future of students must be held accountable,” Roy Barman said.

He claimed that leaders of the Congress, including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and Sonia Gandhi, were also targeted during protests.Roy Barman said the party would continue to stand with students and youths until their demands are addressed. The Congress leaders placed three major demands — the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, a discussion in Parliament to reform the education system, and an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The party also demanded withdrawal of cases filed against protesting students, warning that the movement would continue until justice was delivered.
