Agartala, 26th September 2025 : In a major move to ensure safety and law and order during Durga Puja, the Tripura Police have announced extensive security measures, including the deployment of 7,750 additional personnel, installation of 320 CCTV cameras, and the setup of 241 police assistant booths across the state.
Addressing a press conference at the Police Headquarters, DGP Anurag said massive arrangements have been made to manage the increased number of Puja celebrations this year. “We are also strengthening security in border areas, with joint patrolling in sensitive locations,” he added.
The DGP noted that both rural and urban areas will see additional deployments. This year, around 2,965 Durga Puja celebrations are planned across the state, a 10% increase from last year’s 2,750. All clubs and organizers have been instructed to obtain No Objection Certificates from the SDPO Sadar, Fire Services, Power Department, and Police.
The security plan includes 6,550 Tripura State Rifles personnel and 380 non-executive police staff being assigned to district units, along with 400 additional women police personnel. Additionally, 920 trainee recruits will also be deployed, bringing the total number of additional forces to 7,750.
“To ensure smooth operations, fixed pickets, foot patrols, and 215 vehicles will be used for mobile patrolling. We are also installing 320 additional CCTVs, compared to 216 last year, and have requested Puja organizers to set up their own surveillance systems to monitor crowds,” the DGP said.
Further security measures include 241 police assistant booths, 24/7 wireless network operations, watchtowers at key locations, and detailed traffic diversion plans. Agartala will have no-entry zones from 5 PM to 1 AM, while the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) will remain operational round the clock at 112.
