Agartala, 13th August 2025:  In the run-up to the Independence Day celebrations, Tripura Director General of Police Anurag Dhankar inspected the preparedness of the parade to be performed by security and non-security platoons.

Despite the cancellation of today’s practice session due to heavy rain and waterlogging at the Assam Rifles Ground, around 16 platoons are slated to participate in the parade on August 15.

Speaking to the media after the inspection, DGP Dhankar expressed confidence in the readiness of the participants.

“Today we were here for the full dress rehearsal, but rain and waterlogging forced its cancellation. However, the teams are well-prepared, having trained for the past 20 days. I was here yesterday as well, and both security and non-security platoons are ready for the event,” he said.

The main programme will take place at Assam Rifles Maidan, where Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha will host the national flag at 9:10 am, inspect the combined forces parade, and take the salute.

Independence Day celebrations will begin early with a morning procession at 5 am, followed by the hoisting of the tricolour at 7 am in all government offices, educational institutions, Anganwadi centres, and municipal and local bodies. Students from various schools will also present a vibrant cultural programme to mark the occasion.
