Tripura Education Conclave on October 13 & 14, to draw five-year roadmap for NEP implementation

Date:

Agartala,  12th  October 2026 :  A comprehensive five-year roadmap for strengthening Tripura’s education system by 2030 will be a key outcome of the Tripura Education Conclave 2026, where educationists, policymakers and academic leaders will review the progress of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and identify areas requiring further attention.

The two-day conclave, organised by Vidya Bharati Shiksha Samity Tripura in collaboration with Maharaja Bir Bikram University, will be held at Pragna Bhawan in Agartala on October 13 and 14. The theme of the event is “Implementation of NEP 2020 in Tripura: Progress Till Date and a Five-Year Roadmap for the Future.”

Addressing a press conference at the Agartala Press Club on Monday, Dr Nilmoni Chakraborty, State Coordinator of Vidya Bharati Shiksha Samity Tripura, said the initiative aims to evaluate the state’s progress in implementing NEP 2020, identify shortcomings and formulate practical recommendations for the next five years.

He emphasised the need to improve the quality and accessibility of education, strengthen coordination among educational institutions and incorporate Bharatiya Jnan Parampara, or India’s traditional knowledge systems, into contemporary education.

The conclave will bring together representatives from school and higher education to deliberate on the achievements and challenges associated with the policy’s implementation. The discussions will also explore ways to improve educational delivery, address existing gaps and make learning more inclusive and responsive to students’ needs across the state.

Tripura Governor N. Indrasena Reddy will attend the inaugural ceremony scheduled for October 13 at 11 am as the chief guest. Dr Pawan Tiwari, Organizing Secretary of Vidya Bharati Purvottar Kshetra, will be present as the special guest.

The programme will feature thematic discussions, expert presentations and interactive sessions involving academicians, education administrators and subject specialists. The deliberations are expected to generate recommendations for ensuring more coordinated and effective implementation of NEP 2020 in Tripura through 2030.

Dr Poonam Mukherjee, Programme Coordinator of the Tripura Education Conclave 2026, is overseeing the academic and organisational arrangements for the event.

The valedictory session will be held in the presence of Tripura Human Rights Commission Chairperson (Retd) Justice Arindam Lodh, Tripura University (Central) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Debabrata Das, ICFAI University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr Biplab Halder and other dignitaries.

Dr Chakraborty said a comprehensive report incorporating the key findings and recommendations from the two-day deliberations would be submitted to the Departments of School Education and Higher Education for consideration.

Vidya Bharati Shiksha Samity Tripura has invited teachers, university and college faculty members, researchers, educational administrators, students and other stakeholders to participate in the conclave and share their views on the future course of education in the state.
