Agartala, June 26, 2023: Tripura government is making its untiring efforts to revive the tradition and culture of the 19 indigenous tribes which were becoming extinct due to the carelessness of previous governments in the state, Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha on Monday.

While inaugurating the week-long Kharchi Puja and Utsav at Chaturdash Devta Mandir, Old Agartala Block in the outskirts of the capital city on Monday morning, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said that the state of Tripura is immensely filled with art, culture and tradition and it is doubtful whether there is such a state in the whole country where such diversified essence is present.

Claiming the revitalizing art, culture and tradition of 19 indigenous tribes in Tripura, Dr Saha said “The civilizations of these tribes were getting extinct due to carelessness and negligence of the previous governments’. But the present government is giving all-out effort to revive the art, culture and tradition. Government is also making efforts to strengthen the brotherhood relation between tribals and non-tribals across the state.”

Sharing his past experiences, Chief Minister said “I have visited Kharchi Puja and Utsav during my teenage days. At that time, there were no bridge. The water level along with current of wave of the Howrah river was too high as compared to present day. Devotees had to cross the river through boats. Sometime, some untoward incident of boats’ capsizing also took place. But despite of all audacity, devotees visited Chaturdash Devta Mandir in Old Agartala block and offered their prayers.”

Taking a jibe on previous governments’ negligent role, Dr Saha said “Earlier, there was nothing systematic and no infrastructure. After the arrival of our government, we have been attempting to make proper infrastructure, so that the people don’t face any obstacle in offering prayer at Chaturdash Devta Mandir.”

Mentioning the Khayerpur assembly constituency MLA Ratan Chakraborty’s demand on forming a trust of this auspicious temple, Chief Minister said that this matter will be discussed with the administrative officials in order to look whether there is any kind of legal issues or not. He also said that the Mata Tripureshwari Temple is having a trust and this Chaturdash Devta Mandir may also have one.
