Agartala, March 29: Planning (Statistics) department Secretary Apurba Roy on Wednesday said that Tripura has emerged as the front runner state in the progress index and the state was earlier identified as a performer state in indicators of progress towards sustainable development goals.
Speaking to media persons at Civil Secretariat here on Wednesday afternoon, Roy said that GSDP (Gross State Domestic Product) plays an important role in measuring the economic progress of the state. GSDP of the state is Rs 64778.08 crore as per Advance Estimate in 2021-22. On the other hand, according to the advance estimate in 2021-22, the average per capita income of the state is Rs 1 lakh 40 thousand 803, while the national average is Rs 1 lakh 50 thousand 7.
The Secretary of Planning Department presented the comparative statistics of GSDP and average per capita income of the state from 2018-19 to 2021-22.
Roy said that the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors play an important role in increasing the state’s GSDP. In this regard, he said with information, according to the advance estimate in 2021-22, primary sector has 44.92 percent, secondary sector 11.18 percent and tertiary sector has 43.90 percent participation in GSDP. He said that the economic growth rate of the state is 8.61 in 2021-22 according to the advance estimate. Planning (Statistics) Department Secretary said that the 79th round of National Sample Survey in the state has started from July 1, 2022 and will continue till June 2023. He also highlighted the status of Tripura through statistics on the progress indicators of various stages in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals published by the Government of India’s Niti Aayog. He said that Tripura’s composite score of 2020-21 in achieving sustainable development goals published by NITI Aayog is 65 which was 55 in 2018.
The secretary of the Planning department also said that in August 2019, the department published ‘Vision 2030, 7-year strategy, 3-year action plan and indicators’. He said that regular publications are issued by the department and these publications can be seen on the website www.ecostat.tripura.gov.in.
The Secretary also informed that the Government of India’s Support for Statistical Straining (SSS) project is being implemented in the state to collect and provide quality, timely data. Under this project MoU has been signed with Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata for creating dynamic web portal in the state as well as survey work for data collection. Secretary of Planning Department said that the Seventh Economic Survey in Tripura, first in full digital mode across the country, was launched in July 2019.
