Agartala, 25th October 2024 : The Tripura Indigenous Students Federation (TISF) staged a protest on Friday at the Circuit House area here demanding long-overdue scholarships from the Janjati Kalyan Department. According to the students, approximately 4,000 of them have been deprived of their scholarships for an extended period, despite numerous discussions and previous protests.
One of the protesters expressed his frustration, stating, “We have approached the Janjati Kalyan department many times regarding the scholarship, but each time the officials avoid us with some excuse.” He explained that the Janjati Kalyan Department had assured them that the scholarships would be distributed after the Puja vacation, but the funds have yet to be disbursed.
The persistent delay led TISF to organize another protest to demand the scholarships. “We want to discuss this matter with the Chief Minister. We want him to take action and resolve this issue,” the protester added.
