Tripura Khet Majdoor Union holds fifth sub-divisional conference at Teliamura

Agartala, 8th August 2025:   The fifth sub-divisional conference of the Tripura Khet Majdoor Union, a left-leaning workers and peasants’ organization was held today at the CPI(M) Teliamura sub-divisional office. The event was attended by members, supporters and leaders across various organizational levels.

Addressing the gathering, Shyamal Dey, Secretary of the Union’s Tripura state council emphasized that the sub-divisional conferences are being conducted in accordance with the organization’s procedural norms. He noted that following the completion of local and zonal committee conferences, sub-divisional meetings are now underway across the state. District-level conferences will follow culminating in the state-level conference in the coming months.

Dey reiterated the Union’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of the organized working class, stating that Tripura Khet Majdoor Union has consistently advocated for laborers and farmers at every level. Speakers at the conference voiced concern over the growing challenges faced by workers and peasants amid the current socio-economic climate. They called for collective action to confront these issues and urged all stakeholders to join the democratic struggle for systemic change.

According to organizers, a total of 126 delegates participated in the conference including six women representatives. The gathering unanimously re-elected Himan Roy as Secretary of the Sub-Divisional Committee, while Alok Chakraborty was elected as President.

Pradesh Roy, a senior state leader of the Union; Ajay Ghosh, District Committee Secretary; and Subhash Nath, CPI(M) Teliamura Sub-Divisional Secretary among others were present.
