Dharmanagar: Apr 03. Tripura Minister and BJP’s Dharmanagar by-election in-charge Sudhangshu Das launched a sharp attack on Communist leaders and their ideology while addressing party workers ahead of the April 9 by-election in the 56-Dharmanagar Assembly constituency.
Das emphasized that the by-election is not about returning to power or retaining government but simply to fill the vacancy left after the demise of Speaker and sitting MLA Biswabandhu Sen. He noted that the Election Commission has scheduled the poll for April 9, with results to be declared on May 4.
Highlighting BJP’s candidate, Das said: “We have nominated Jahar Chakraborty, a dedicated worker who embodies the ideals of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. The people of Dharmanagar will give him a historic victory.”
He expressed confidence that opposition candidates would lose their deposits, predicting a landslide win for the BJP.
Das accused the Communists of pursuing “anti-national policies,” claiming they reject slogans like ‘Bande Mataram’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. He alleged that their ideology is rooted in Maoism, Naxalism, and foreign influences, while dismissing Indian icons such as Swami Vivekananda, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, and Rabindranath Tagore.
“Communists glorify leaders like Karl Marx, Lenin, Mao Zedong, Fidel Castro, and Che Guevara—names alien to our soil—while insulting our own national heroes,” Das said.
He further criticized CPI(M) leaders including Jitendra Choudhury and former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar for allegedly supporting Maoists, whom he accused of misleading tribal communities and obstructing development.
Das concluded by asserting that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India is determined to eliminate Maoist extremism by March 2026, and that Dharmanagar voters will deliver a “historic mandate” in favor of the BJP.
