Agartala, October 14.: In a significant operation, the Tripura Police apprehended an individual and confiscated Yaba tablets valued at Rs 4.50 crore in Bagbasa, located in the North district of the state.
Addressing the media, Superintendent of Police for the North District, Bhanupada Chakraborty, disclosed that acting on a credible tip-off, officers from Bagbasa police station, under the guidance of Officer-in-Charge (OC), conducted a thorough search operation late Friday night.
“During the operation, a 12-wheeler lorry registered as NL01L7106, ostensibly carrying cement, was detained and subjected to inspection. It was during this search that the police uncovered a concealed compartment within the truck, within which they found and seized 90,000 Yaba tablets,” explained the SP.
The driver, identified as Debabrata Dey, was apprehended and is currently undergoing interrogation. “The estimated value of the contraband is around Rs 4.50 crore. The arrested driver hails from Udaipur in the Gomati district. We have initiated proceedings under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act,” the SP informed the press.
