Agartala, 18th May 2026: Tripura Police have made a significant drug seizure in North Tripura district, arresting two individuals in connection with a large consignment of Yaba tablets valued at around Rs 2.5 crore.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a team from Kadamtala Police Station conducted a raid in Bagan village under Kadamtala police limits in the Dharmanagar subdivision. The operation was carried out under the supervision of North Tripura Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai.
During the search of a residence belonging to Gautam Das in Ward No. 6 of Bagan Gram Panchayat, police recovered approximately 50,000 Yaba tablets. The narcotics were reportedly hidden in a cowshed on the property.
Officials estimated the black-market value of the seized drugs at around ₹2.5 crore.The two accused, identified as Gautam Das and Jasimuddin, were arrested on the spot. Police suspect their involvement in drug storage and trafficking activities connected to a broader network operating across state or international routes.
A case has been registered under the NDPS Act at Kadamtala Police Station. Authorities are currently interrogating the accused to trace the origin of the contraband and identify other members of the trafficking syndicate.
Investigators are also focusing on uncovering supply chains, storage points, and financial transactions linked to the seized narcotics as part of a wider anti-drug operation in the region.
