Agartala, 20th July 2024: In a significant breakthrough, the East Agartala police have arrested two notorious drug dealers Raja Saha and Arjun Debnath, who had been evading authorities for an extended period. Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested the duo from the College Tilla area of the capital city on Saturday.
Raja Saha, a resident of Pratapgarh in West district and Arjun Debnath from Melaghar in Sepahijala district were wanted in connection with two NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) cases.
“They had been absconding for a long time. Based on secret information, we managed to nab them,” said Rana Chatterjee, Officer-in-Charge of East Agartala Police Station.
The suspects are currently under interrogation at the police station. “Two cases under the NDPS Act were registered against the accused at East agarta;a police station. We will be presenting them in court today, seeking police remand,” Chatterjee added.
This arrest marks a significant step in the crackdown on drug-related crimes in the region, as authorities continue their efforts to curb the drug menace.
