Agartala, 29th February 2024 : In a successful operation, the Madhupur police station, operating under the Bishalgarh sub-division, intercepted and recovered two stolen bikes suspected to be intended for smuggling into Bangladesh. The incident unfolded in the Kiyerdhepa area of Kamlasagar Assembly, as per information obtained from intelligence sources.
Acting swiftly on the tip-off, Madhupur police, in collaboration with local residents, set up a vigilant watch on the anticipated smuggling route. The operation reached its climax late last night when the smugglers arrived at the location with the stolen bikes. The alert local crowd managed to apprehend the smugglers, forcing them to abandon the bikes and flee the scene.
Upon receiving the news, police teams promptly arrived at the location to secure the area. Two bikes, bearing registration numbers TR01W6460 and TR01L8270, were recovered and subsequently transported to the Madhupur police station.
Police officials, based on preliminary assessments, believe that the recovered bikes were stolen with the clear intention of smuggling them across the border into Bangladesh. An ongoing investigation has been initiated to ascertain the full details of the incident and identify the individuals involved in the smuggling attempt.
